*best is subjective.

How do I find a good Massage Therapist?

These options may seem obvious, but we all need a helpful reminder some days.

0. Before you begin the search, know what you are looking for. There are a wide variety of Massage Therapists, and endless techniques and approaches. Knowing what you're expecting can help the Massage Therapist to be able to deliver.

  1. One tried and true method is relying on friends or people in your circle.

This method works, because maybe a person in your circle has already vetted a massage therapist to provide what they need. Your person may also have a good insight to what would work for you, or be able to direct you to someone that better suits your needs.

2. Your chiro/physical therapist/personal trainer

Chances are these professionals have an LMT they are working with, if not getting their own massages. These professionals are interested in supporting your health, they should be trusted to know who can supplement their services. Call them up or send a message, they would be happy to help.

3. If a certain Licensed Massage Therapist or facility has been on your mind and you have been wanting to try it, DO IT! If that is too much, try giving them a call to ask them a few questions. Service providers are happy to answer questions that could potentially benefit their industry.

If you find yourself without these resources, maybe in a foreign city? (your professionals may know people there too..) Knowing what you want will provide a fruitful search.

Also, being able to decipher what each massage place can offer.

Massage in the soft and relaxing sense, where there is little muscle manipulation more aromatherapy and other comforts is typically a spa experience. These places will offer many add-ons to enhance the experience, maybe you'd go for a foot scrub or a couple of warm towels? If you prefer more muscle manipulation, this is where it can get tricky. Many gyms have massage as apart of their experience, if they don't, you can ask the staff or check for a business card wall.

I would be surprised if after all this you still are looking for a good massage therapist.... if we get to this point, I'm looking at you and asking if your thoughts/story needs to change. Either way, feel free to reach out here and I'd love to help you with this mystery!

Take care.

Carrie, your Massage Therapist
